Course Outline and Management Plan
INSTRUCTOR:
Ms Darling
GENERAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Recommended
that all students purchase a "USB flash drive" to store
class projects. Size should be at least 128 mb or larger.
Students
will be asked to purchase one burnable CD to create Personal portfolio
at the end of the year.
Students
will need to locate and use information from the Internet and handouts
to complete project and assignments.
The
skills acquired and refined during the class will aid the student
in future problem-solving activities in his/her daily and professional
life.
The
student will be required to analyze text and lab problems. The student
will be required to analyze problems, develop solutions, and demonstrate
the solution in a variety of presentations.
Conscientiousness
to detail, attendance, punctuality, and cooperativeness on the part
of the student is essential to a successful completion of the class.
The
student will demonstrate her/his art and computer skills by completing
assignments in a logical manner to produce completed materials.
(I
believe all students can succeed in art. It will take effort and
time, but the effort will produce tremendous results in the long
run.)
BEGINNING
CLASS
Please
enter the room in a quiet, orderly manner. You are to be at your
station before the second bell sounds. Immediately begin working
on your assignment when you enter the classroom.
ATTENDANCE
& SEATING
Attendance
will be taken within the first 30 minutes of the second bell.
A seating
chart will be made after the first day of class. Remain at your
station the entire class period. Wandering around the class is not
permitted.
The
Pledge of Allegiance will take place at the beginning of Third Period.
I expect all my students to respect the flag. I would like them
standing and remove hats when applicable.

MISSED
ASSIGNMENTS
If
you miss a day, you can check the website for information.
If
you miss an assignment due to an excused absence, you need to make
up the assignment to receive credit for it. Late assignments are
given two days per day missed to turn in. Missed tests must be asked
for and made up no more than two days after the student returns.
INCOMPLETE
WORK
You
will be worked with on an individual basis regarding incomplete
work. Generally, work turned in incomplete will receive a grade
for the amount of work done. However, there are always exceptions
for each situation and you will be treated in a fair and consistent
way.
LATE
WORK
I will
accept late assignments up to one week after due date for partial
credit.
You
will lose 25% of the assignment's grade if turned in within one
week of assignment due date.
For
full credit, you need to turn in assignments the day they are due.
I
WILL NOT ACCEPT PROJECT OR ASSIGNMENT AFTER ONE WEEK OF THE DUE
DATE UNLESS YOU HAVE MADE ARRANGMENTS WITH ME PRIOR AND/OR HAVE
A VALID EXCUSE.
EXTRA
CREDIT
E.C.
will be given only with prior approval...which means you MUST tell
me your plans first. If I approve it, you may do the assignment.
E.C. assignments will earn a maximum of 25 points each (points...NOT
percent). You cannot ask to do extra credit unless you have
completed ALL other projects and assignments first.
TURNING
IN ASSIGNMENTS
- Assignments
will be considered turned when I have recieved the evaluation
sheet and project in Online Drop Box.
- Assignments
must be complete and turned in and critiqued to receive full credit.
- Partial
credit will be given for late assignments without an excused absence.
HEADINGS ON PAPERS
All
turn-in assignments require proper headings. A proper heading is
written in the upper right corner of the paper and includes the
student's first and last name. Below their name will be the date.
Below the date will be the class period. I don’t attempt to
match a student's handwriting when no name is written on the paper.
Digital
files must also have this information as well as saving the files
with last name, first name a d then placed in the appropriate folder
online.

BATHROOM,
DRINKS, FOOD, GUM & SNACKS
Bathroom
breaks need to be utilized only if absolutely necessary. I would
prefer not to have students roaming the wings all during class.
It's very disruptive to the other calsses in the wing.
Drinks
are to be gotten before class begins. THE
ONLY DRINK ALLOWED IN THE LAB IS WATER and it must have
a cap. No exceptions to this rule!
There
is to be ABSOLUTELY no candy, food or drink brought into this class.
This includes sodas, chips, candy and sunflower seeds. No
exceptions to this rule!
I
do NOT allow gum
NEATNESS
& LEGIBILITY
You
need to write in a neat and legible way. If I have to struggle to
read it, I simply will not. You will be asked to redo any assignment
returned and to work on your writing for future assignments.
If
a student has a serious motor-skill problem, the student will be
worked with on an individual basis and will be asked to communicate
answers in a typed or non-written way.
CLASSROOM
EQUIPMENT
Classroom
equipment ranges from computers, desks, chairs, ...basically everything
in the classroom. It's all for you to use! If things get damaged
or lost, you as well as others will not get to use it. Everyone
loses.
Students
caught vandalizing desks or other classroom equipment will be held
accountable for the full price to repair or replace the item(s)
damaged. Other legal and administrative discipline will also follow.
This equipment is very expensive...You really don't want to buy
the school a new $3000.00 table.
Please, Please, Please... take care of everything in the class.
SAFETY
Safety
is the number one rule when working with computer equipment.
Anyone working in a non-safe way will be prohibited from working
with the equipment and will forfeit their grade for the assignment.

FIRE
DRILLS
Students
will understand and be able to follow through with all fire drill
procedures. Everyone in the class will stay together the entire
time and will follow ALL fire drill rules.
END
OF CLASS
Messes
need to be cleaned up and all supplies and equipment need to be
put away as directed five minutes before the bell rings.
Stay
at your computer until I excuse you to leave. Students waiting near
the door or wandering around the classroom will lose ALL participation
points for that day.

RULES and BANNED ITEMS
My
rules are simple and easy.
1.Take
Good Care Of The Computers.
2. Sit In Your Assigned Seat As Soon As You Enter The Classroom.
3. Save all assignments to your disk or Personal-Drive…Not
the Computer.
4. Bring Something To Work On Everyday.
They
involve respect and following all classroom procedures carefully.
I have high expectations that these rules will be met by each student.
If you cannot be mature enough to be respectful to me or others,
you simply do not belong in my class.
I do not accept disrespect in my classroom.
Everyone
has the right to learn. When someone disrupts this process, respect
is not being given. Therefore rules must be enforced with fair and
consistent consequences.
You
are expected to follow all classroom procedures carefully. Classroom
procedures are organized instructions and routines to ensure a well
running learning environment.
I welcome
and encourage students to do their very best in my class. Often
times a positive attitude is all that is necessary for students
to achieve the unimaginable. My motto is "Attitude is Everything!".
Your attitude can make this class a great, memorable experience
that will provide you with skills to gain a great job in the future.
