Web Class Overview

The Advanced Graphic Design Course develops the student's knowledge and skills through an interactive series of courses covering both the web and print. In good instruction, interactivity refers to active learning, in which the learner acts on the information to transform it into new, personal meaning. This definition of interactivity focuses on aspects of interface design. Effective instruction relies on both thoughtful interface design and instructional design, which work together. The student will learn the core aspects of branding, user interface, interactive design, advertising, and of course visual design.

Students learn all aspects of the visual design utilizing their lab time to become proficient in a variety of applications and software for digital imaging, graphic design, HTML, and more. A series of projects throughout the program are all directed and can be used in a student's portfolio. The student leaves with a full body of work to show an employer both experience and creativity. They will also gain powerful evaluation, design, and communication skills.

In this dynamic class, you'll learn how the Web evolved, cover the technical fundamentals, and discover the design principles that characterize the leading sites. Through exposure to best (and worst) practices on the Web, you'll learn how to intelligently critique a Web design, both from a functional and an aesthetic standpoint.

Students will learn about and apply various web page design and layout skills using a variety of computer related software. A majority of design activities will focus on the layout and creation of specific themes associated with websites on the Internet. The Internet will be used, as a primary resource for class assignments, with additional emphasis on utilizing effective research skills.
